For organizations running NetSuite, connecting Outlook and CRM can solve a deceptively expensive problem: Important customer conversations happen in email, while the customer record lives somewhere else.
Both CloudExtend ExtendSync and Netgain SuperSync address that disconnect. Both allow Outlook users to associate email with NetSuite, create records from Outlook, and automate portions of email capture. But when you look beyond basic email logging, meaningful differences emerge in architecture, administration, automation, permissions, and how much technology an organization needs to manage.
For teams evaluating ExtendSync vs. SuperSync, or looking for a SuperSync alternative altogether, the real question is not whether a tool can log an email. It’s how much of that work it can remove, how much time it can save, and how much control administrators keep while it does.
ExtendSync vs. SuperSync: Where They’re Similar
Both products bring NetSuite functionality closer to Outlook.
Netgain’s SuperSync Email for Outlook allows users to save emails and attachments to NetSuite, associate communications with multiple NetSuite record types, create contacts, customers, and leads from Outlook, and automate logging for selected email threads.
ExtendSync similarly lets users work with NetSuite without constantly switching applications. Users can associate emails with records, create and edit NetSuite records, sync calendar activity, and automate email capture. ExtendSync also supports standard and custom NetSuite records for email association.
The bigger differences appear when organizations want to move from individual productivity to organization-wide automation.

One Integration Strategy vs. Multiple Outlook Products
This is one of the clearest architectural differences.
Netgain divides its Outlook functionality across multiple SuperSync offerings. SuperSync Email for Outlook provides the user-facing Outlook add-in. MailSync provides hands-free backend email synchronization. CalSync handles Outlook calendar synchronization. Netgain notes that organizations may use SuperSync Email and MailSync together.
ExtendSync takes a more unified approach.
Within the ExtendSync experience, organizations can choose manual email capture, or automate workflows using Thread Autopilot, Email Address Autopilot, or Global Autopilot. Calendar Autopilot adds automatic bi-directional synchronization between Outlook and NetSuite. All administration is handled through CloudExtend’s centralized admin portal.
That matters because integration complexity isn’t only about implementation. Every additional product, configuration layer, and administrative process becomes something IT must understand and maintain.
ExtendSync gives us a clear record of everything that has happened. It’s saving us anywhere from 100 to 150 hours in a year.

Authentication and Permissions Deserve a Closer Look
Security architecture is another important distinction buyers should investigate.
Netgain’s documentation states that the SuperSync Email configuration record contains an organization’s Login Token, which administrators copy and share with people who need access to the Outlook add-in. Netgain describes that token as essentially the password the organization uses to log into the add-in. Individual access is then configured through SuperSync Email profiles, and Netgain notes that employees do not need NetSuite access themselves to record emails in NetSuite.
That can be useful for organizations that intentionally want employees without NetSuite licenses to capture email. But it also means buyers should understand that access is being governed through SuperSync’s profile model rather than simply inheriting each employee’s individual NetSuite role. So, a departing employee’s SuperSync access and their NetSuite access are two separate things to manage, not one.
ExtendSync takes a different approach. CloudExtend logins maintain the security parameters of the connected systems, and NetSuite record availability and functionality are governed by the user’s NetSuite permissions. For organizations with carefully designed NetSuite roles, that alignment can simplify governance because users continue operating within the access model administrators already maintain in NetSuite.

Global Autopilot Moves Automation to the Admin
The biggest ExtendSync differentiator may be Global Autopilot.
Traditional email integrations make logging easier, but they still depend on individual users to configure automation or remember to save messages. Global Autopilot moves that responsibility to the organization.
With Global Autopilot, administrators can select participating users and shared mailboxes, define organization-wide rules and exclusions, control attachment behavior, and determine what happens when no matching NetSuite record exists. Matching emails then sync automatically in the background, typically within 30–60 seconds, without end-user action. Customer communication capture becomes an administered business process rather than a user habit.
Plus, ExtendSync automation—whether that’s Thread, Email, or Global Autopilot—doesn’t need Outlook to even be open to run. It will automatically run in the background, even when your laptop is closed for the night or the weekend.
Netgain offers comparable hands-free automation through MailSync, which also runs continuously in the background and applies preset rules per enrolled address without requiring the add-in to be open. The practical difference is packaging: Netgain positions MailSync as a distinct backend product with its own setup, while Global Autopilot is included as part of ExtendSync’s Enterprise Edition rather than sold as a separate product.
With ExtendSync, I no longer have to search through my 21,000-email inbox to find something. Once I sync with Autopilot, I know I have nothing to worry about.

Don’t Forget the Calendar
Customer history isn’t only email.
Meetings move. Appointments are rescheduled. Calls get canceled. If Outlook and NetSuite don’t stay aligned, someone either updates both systems manually or accepts that one will eventually be wrong.
Netgain addresses this with its separate CalSync offering, which automatically synchronizes Outlook events with NetSuite.
CloudExtend offers Calendar Autopilot alongside ExtendSync, providing automatic bi-directional synchronization between Outlook and NetSuite. Events can be created, updated, moved, or deleted while the integration keeps the two systems aligned.
For organizations evaluating the complete Outlook-to-NetSuite experience, it’s worth comparing the full email and calendar architecture rather than evaluating email logging in isolation.
The Right NetSuite Outlook Integration for You
SuperSync and ExtendSync can both reduce the friction between Outlook and NetSuite. SuperSync provides manual Outlook email capture, backend email automation through MailSync, and calendar synchronization through CalSync.
ExtendSync’s advantage is how those requirements come together.
ExtendSync is easy to use, and it’s constantly in front of you while you’re going through emails, resulting in a more consistent record of correspondence.

Users can start with manual capture, automate individual threads or contacts, move to organization-wide Global Autopilot, create and edit NetSuite records from Outlook, and add bi-directional calendar automation while IT retains centralized control. The experience is designed to scale from individual productivity to organization-wide CRM automation without making users responsible for keeping NetSuite complete.
If you’re comparing ExtendSync vs. SuperSync, don’t stop at whether each product can log an email. Ask how many components you’ll need, how authentication and permissions work, who controls automation, whether it continues without Outlook running, how shared inboxes are handled, and what happens when you need calendar synchronization too.
Those differences determine whether an integration merely makes CRM work easier or removes the work altogether.
